ANTI SLAVERY AND HUMAN TRAFFICKING STATEMENT

Modern slavery is a crime and a violation of fundamental human rights. It takes various forms, such as slavery, servitude, forced and compulsory labor and human trafficking, all of which have in common the deprivation of a person’s liberty by another in order to exploit them for personal or commercial gain.

The California Transparency in Supply Chains Act of 2010 requires companies doing business in California to disclose efforts to eliminate slavery and human trafficking from their supply chains.

Federally, the revised Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) 52.222-50 (entitled “Combating Trafficking in Persons”) and FAR provision 52.222-56 (“Certification Regarding Trafficking in Persons Compliance Plan”) are aimed at removing slavery and human trafficking from the U.S. federal government contracting supply chain. This statement details the systems and controls that UMC Group members (as defined below) have in place to safeguard against slavery and human trafficking in its business and supply chain.

Globally, several forced labor regulations require companies to set up processes to identify, assess, prevent and remedy human rights risks and impacts in their supply chains and in their own operations. To comply, companies must also ensure they provide ways for employees of indirect suppliers to file complaints alerting the company to any potential human rights violations.

UMC Trading (Beijing) Limited, and its affiliates (the “UMC Group”) have both a policy (the “Anti-Slavery and Human Trafficking Policy”) and processes in place to mitigate the risk of human trafficking and slavery from occurring in its business and supply chain.

Employees are obligated to report suspected violations of our Anti-Slavery and Human Trafficking Policy.  Any concerns relating to potential noncompliance with our Anti-Slavery and Human Trafficking Policy are investigated promptly.  Where appropriate, the UMC Group will also liaise with relevant law enforcement bodies.  Further, UMC Group is committed to ensuring that no employee suffers any retaliation as a result of reporting suspected violations of our policy.
